CRGO / CRNO Coil

CRGO / CRNO Coil

CRGO and CRNO are types of electrical steel used in transformer cores and other electrical appliances. CRNO is cold rolled non-grain oriented steel with thicker laminations of at least 0.50mm, resulting in higher losses than CRGO which has thinner laminations of 0.27mm.

Traditionally distribution transformers were made with Cold Rolled Grain Oriented Steel (CRGO). This is due to its exceptionally high mechanical elasticity and magnetic properties in the rolling direction.

These core laminations are required to be cut from special steel called as Cold Rolled Grain Oriented Electrical Steel or popularly known as CRGO. The CRGO is a special quality of steel which have a special grain surface and comes in a thickness of 0.23 mm, 0.27 mm, 0.30 mm, 0.35 mm. (generally called M3, M4, M5 & M6).
